An Online Community and Ecosystem for Black Men in Education

Brotherhood Beyond the Classroom

Being a Black man in education is part of who you are, but it is not all of who you are.

You are more than your job title, professional responsibilities, and the expectations others place upon you.

You are a man with your own identity, relationships, aspirations, experiences, challenges, responsibilities, and needs.

Yet too often, Black men in education find themselves navigating their personal and professional journeys without the relationships, resources, opportunities, and community needed to support their growth.

TBMEC Brotherhood is an online community and ecosystem created for Black men in education to connect, build meaningful relationships, share experiences, access resources, support one another, and develop personally and professionally.

We are building a Brotherhood where Black men can strengthen themselves, strengthen one another, and contribute to stronger families, communities, institutions, and futures.

Why TBMEC Brotherhood?

Black men in education carry responsibilities that often extend far beyond our job descriptions.

We teach, mentor, counsel, lead, advocate, support students, care for families, serve communities, and navigate institutions.

  • But who is supporting the Brother doing the work?

  • Where do we go to connect with men who understand our experiences?

  • Where do we have opportunities to reflect on our lives, share what we are learning, receive encouragement, explore new possibilities, and support one another?

TBMEC Brotherhood was created to help address these needs.
We believe that Black men in education deserve more than recognition for the work they perform. We deserve opportunities to develop as whole men.
Our personal growth, health and well-being, relationships, financial agency and ownership, leadership, and sense of purpose matter.

And we do not have to pursue these things alone.

You Do Not Have to Navigate Your Journey Alone.

Who Is the Brotherhood For?

TBMEC Brotherhood welcomes Black men across educational roles and career stages, including aspiring educators, teacher candidates, classroom teachers, school counselors, school psychologists, instructional specialists, teacher leaders, school administrators, educational executives, college and university faculty, researchers, mentors, and community educators.

Whether you are preparing to enter education, beginning your career, navigating professional transitions, pursuing leadership opportunities, or considering the next chapter of your life, there is room for you in the Brotherhood.

You do not have to be at a particular point in your journey to belong.
