International Experiences

Fostering global perspectives and excellence in education through impactful international fellowships, cultural exchanges, and scholarly engagements across the African Diaspora and beyond.

Fulbright Specialist — Colombia

2026 | Universidad de la Costa, Barranquilla, Colombia

My work connected ethnomathematics, ancestral knowledge, culture, and educational practice through professional learning and community engagement.

My experiences along Colombia's Caribbean Coast, including engagement with Afro-Colombian communities, expanded my understanding of Black male educators, African diasporic identities, and the relationships among culture, community knowledge, and education.

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Finalist—Ghana

I was selected as a finalist for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program for a proposed research and visiting scholar opportunity at the University for Development Studies in Ghana.

My proposed project focused on studying the professional experiences of Black male teachers in Ghana.

The project emerged from my past research of Black male educators from Ghana, international educational engagement and presentation at Ghana ASCD and was developed to deepen my understanding of Black male educators within Ghana's educational context.

If selected for the award, the proposed work would have included collaboration with Ghana ASCD, connecting scholarly research with educator professional learning and development.

The finalist recognition reflects my continuing commitment to international research, educational collaboration, and the study of Black male teachers across national contexts.

2019 and 2025 | Ghana

In 2019, I traveled to Ghana during the Year of Return, engaging in cultural and historical experiences that deepened my understanding of African history, heritage, identity, and the connections among people of African descent across the diaspora.

In 2025, I attended and presented at the Ghana ASCD International Educators Summit, engaging with educators and educational leaders on professional learning, educational practice, and international educational collaboration.

These experiences expanded my understanding of the educational environments and professional experiences of Black male teachers in Ghana.

They also contributed to the development of my proposal to study Black male teachers in Ghana through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.
